Y-3 is a brand born in 2003 as a collaboration between Adidas and designer Yohji Yamamoto. Prior to that, the footwear division debuted as "adidas for Yohji Yamamoto" in the "Yohji Yamamoto Femme/Homme" collection in 2001. Incidentally, the "Y" in Y-3 stands for Yohji Yamamoto, and the "3" stands for the three stripes of Adidas.
