Paul Smith was founded in Nottingham, England in 1970. It was originally a select shop dealing in brands such as Margaret Howell and Kenzo, but gradually it began to produce original products that were designed by the designer himself. In 1976, he presented his first collection in Paris.
He gained popularity for his unique style that combines traditional British style with playfulness and ease of wear, and has developed into a global brand. In 2000, he was awarded the title of "Sir" by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his achievements, becoming only the third fashion designer to receive the title of knight.
