Y-3 is a brand born in 2003 as a collaboration between Adidas and designer Yohji Yamamoto. Prior to that, the footwear division debuted as "adidas for Yohji Yamamoto" in the "Yohji Yamamoto Femme/Homme" collection in 2001. Incidentally, the "Y" in Y-3 stands for Yohji Yamamoto, and the "3" stands for the three stripes of Adidas. The brand's concept is to "make sportswear elegant and chic," and it embodies Yohji Yamamoto's desire to "create something that never existed before." It is a pioneer in the endeavor to combine fashion and functionality, fusing sportswear with mode. In 2006, the first flagship store in Japan was opened in Omotesando, Tokyo, and in 2013, the brand celebrated its 10th anniversary. From the following year's 2014 autumn/winter collection, the presentation venue was moved from New York to Paris, expanding the opportunities for mode transmission.
